Artist's Comments

The runners for this rocking chair are made from a wagon wheel that I cut in half. Fabricated steel, rope webbing, and foam and fabric cushion. It is very fun to rock in because it lets you go back much further than most rocking chairs. You can also sit backwards and ride it like a rocking horse.

The photograph was taken in the Raising room of my schools metals studio. I intend to get a picture of it taken by someone who knows what they're doing.

To me, deviantART is more than just a gallery. It's where people come for support and love from one another in an artistic sense, and communal sense, and I fear we've lost sight of that.

And somehow, the best photographers seem to come from Canada.
That is such a spiffy idea!

I suffer from inertia and friction... "an object at rest tends to stay at rest" and "an object in motion is slowed down by friction until it comes to a stop"
ha, I would like to see a video of someone rocking in this. It looks like a fun ride.
Wow, great work!
Never seen a rocket like that, it look very comfortable and funny to be seat on.
I like very much the wheels and the shape of the seat when gets thinner on the top.

I like this. It's slick, and imposing. I'm not sure where I'd put it in my house though, haha
You should come join us over at :devmetalmiths:!! =D

It is! And you can also sit on it backwards, like a rocking horse.
It is too big to work in my dorm room. XD
Thank you very much. :D
